Hunter Community Cabinet
The Hunter Community Cabinet was held on 7 April 2009.
The Premier and Ministers focused on issues affecting the Hunter region, meeting with the community at a public forum and meetings.
Summary of local issues raised by the community
Priority: Crime and anti-social behaviour
The community requested NSW Government support to remove illegal street prostitution and associated anti-social behaviour in Islington.
Priority: Privatisation of Cessnock Gaol
The community raised issues regarding future employment for correctional officers currently working at Cessnock Gaol.
Priority: Energy Australia Stadium
The community also raised issues about the future use of Energy Australia Stadium by the Newcastle Knights, as the community wants the team to stay in Newcastle.
Priority: Roads and transport
The community participants raised the following roads and transport issues:

The future of the rail line into Newcastle, and

The timing of the F3 to Branxton and Inner City Bypass road projects.
Priority: Tillegra Dam
A number of local planning and environment issues were raised by the community in relation to the Tillegra Dam Project.
