Bathurst Community Cabinet
The Bathurst Community Cabinet was held on 10 June 2009.
The Premier and Ministers focused on issues affecting the local region, meeting with the community at a public forum and meetings.
Summary of local issues raised by the community
Priority: Composition of Local Council Traffic Committees
The community asked if one community representative could be included on the Local Council Traffic Committees to ensure that local community issues especially those affecting people with disabilities and the elderly could be considered.
Priority: Future use of Bathurst Rehabilitation Hospital
The community asked if the Government could promote use of the vacant Bathurst Rehabilitation Hospital as an aged care facility.
Priority: Attracting new industry to the region
The community raised concerns about decline of regional towns and asked the Government what could be done to promote new industry to the region.
Priority: Social housing
The community asked what the Government was doing to increase the number of social housing facilities in the Lithgow area.
Priority: Public transport links between Bathurst and Lithgow
The community asked the Government to look at improving public transport links between Bathurst and Lithgow.
Of particular concern was timetabling and access to coach links between Bathurst and Lithgow which are often full.
