Biography
She was elevated to Cabinet in April 2007 where she held the portfolios of Juvenile Justice, Western Sydney and Assisting the Premier on Citizenship.
Prior to entering State Parliament in 2001, Barbara worked as a councillor at Auburn Council for four years.
Before that she worked as a legal aid solicitor for 12 years, working with some of the most socially disadvantaged and marginalised members of our community.
As the new Minister for Local Government, Barbara is eager to promote greater accountability and transparency within councils and is working hard to ensure communities are adequately and fairly represented at a local level.
As Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Mental Health), Barbara is working hard to improve services for people with a mental illness and those who care for them.
Barbara is a passionate and vocal MP who believes in social justice, a sense of fairness, and helping her local community. She has lived in her Auburn electorate her entire life.
Barbara and her husband Michael, a local school teacher, have five boys, including young twins.
