This is a Budget for jobs.
This is a Budget which invests in a better future for the people of New South Wales.
At a time of global recession my government is investing in jobs.
Over the next four years we will invest $62.9 billion on our State-wide building program to support jobs.
That's $62.9 billion on projects like:
-
roads
-
rail
-
hospitals and
-
ports.
And we'll be funding better public services as well.
All up my government is delivering a record $53.9 billion Budget this year, the biggest Budget in the history of New South Wales.
That spending will allow us to invest:
-
$15.1 billion in health services
-
$14.7 billion in our schools and TAFE system
-
$7.1 billion on transport and
-
$4.4 billion on roads.
Given the economic downturn, a moderate budget deficit will be sustained, so we can protect essential frontline services.
But we also have a detailed plan to get the Budget back to surplus in just two years time.
This is a Budget for jobs, recovery and growth.
